This Skinny Frozen Strawberry Margarita can be made in just minutes and is the perfect sweet treat to make with your favorite 21 Day Fix Mexican dinner!
Hey guys!! And helloooo to this refreshing glass of gorgeousness! If, like me, you're already planning your Taco Tuesday extravaganza - even though it's not actually a taco, I'm making this awesome Zucchini Enchilada Skillet! - and I've got the perfect, crazy-delish drink to go with.
This super easy frozen strawberry margarita was actually supposed to grace this blog back in May on my blogiversary*, which just so happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo. However, it kind of snuck up on me and wasn't quite ready at the time, so here we are. 🙂 If you've been following along for a while, you probably already know that I love sharing new marg recipes to celebrate, like my Watermelon and Pineapple Chipotle margaritas. SO freaking good.
Before I get to answering some common questions (and, of course, this recipe) I just wanted to share the second thing that always comes to mind when I think "tequila". Growing up we used to do this silly dance and yell "tequila!" every now and then for fun. You guys remember this one? My family LOVED some Pee Wee. Btw, Pee Wee's Playhouse is now on Netflix, did you know that?? I've recently introduced it to my kids amidst much nostaligic euphoria.
Anyway, on to some questions you may have!
What's in a strawberry margarita?
This recipe includes frozen unsweetened strawberries, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Simple, delish ingredients that come together super quick!
That being said, if you order a frozen strawberry margarita in a restaurant, it can include all sorts of fun things like pre-packaged margarita mix or sour mix, loads of extra sugar, etc.. so always get a good look at that ingredient list if you can!
How many calories are in a frozen strawberry margarita?
This healthier margarita has 167 calories and 14 grams of sugar (most of which is all natural, from the strawberries, with a small amount of added sugar from the triple sec).
A frozen strawberry margarita of the same size as this recipe from a restaurant (I used Texas Roadhouse as an example) has about 215 calories and THIRTY-FOUR GRAMS OF SUGAR. Holy freaking cow, you guys.
For my WW peeps, let me also mention that that amount of strawberry marg (about 8 oz) from TR is going to cost you 12 Freestyle points, where as this tasty little number will only cost you 4 for the same serving size. Whoop whoop!
What kind of tequila should I use in a margarita?
Because I'm a frugal sorta gal, I love using this Best Inexpensive Tequila List from Uproxx to find my next favorite bottle. So far my very fave is the Olmeca Altos, but I'm sure anything on this list would make a great Frozen Strawberry Margarita 😉
Is tequila gluten-free?
Tequila labeled 100% agave is naturally gluten-free, so yes! BUT, a "mixto" tequila may contain other ingredients so you can't be sure that it's gluten free without doing brand-specific research, so pick up some 100% agave and you'll be all set!
Speaking of things being GF, Cointreau is a great brand of Triple Sec that's gluten free. I couldn't find much decisive info on other popular brands, so if you're GF, stick to that one for this recipe.
Is tequila vegan?
Yep! And if you're wondering about tripe sec, I've got good news there, too! Cointreau, Hiram Walker and DeKuyper brands are all vegan! There are probable other brands that are, too, but these are the ones that I specifically checked.
The hubs and I are BIG fans of this one, so I hope you guys love it as much as we do!

How to make frozen strawberry margaritas from scratch:
📖 Recipe
Frozen Strawberry Margarita Recipe {21 Day Fix | Weight Watchers}
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen sliced strawberries (you can use whole, slices just blend a little easier)
- 1 oz (2 Tbs) 100% agave blanco tequila
- ½ oz (1 Tbs) triple sec (be sure to use Cointreau if you're gluten free!)
- ½ oz (1 Tbs) lime juice
- a little water for thinning, if necessary
Instructions
- Put everything but the water in a blender and blend until smooth. A blender cup works perfectly for this if you're only making one serving. If it seems too thick to drink, blend in some water, ½ Tbs at a time until it's at the consistency you like.
