This 21 Day Fix approved Sangria is so simple and festive, perfect for your fourth of July BBQ! It's sweet, but not too sweet and that wine soaked fruit is so delicious!
Hey, party people, the fourth of July is this weekend! I LOVE me some independence! I'm lucky enough to live across the street - Yes, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET!! from an amazing fireworks show and festival. It's pretty great. We go over there during the day and eat some fun food, listen to some live music, and watch the kids play in the bouncy houses. Then once the sun starts to set, we head home, put some chairs in the front yard and enjoy the show!
I've got a pretty good idea that that isn't what most of you will be doing though. You're probably grilling, right?! Having (or going to) some fantastic fourth of July get-together where there will probably be some burgers and hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob, potato salad and one of those cakes where one of your relatives has used berries to recreate the American flag, am I right? Well that all sounds great, but we almost forgot one very important thing... something refreshing to wash it all down with, duh!
Enter my Red, White and Blue Sangria. One of the many amazing things about the 21 Day Fix is that you can have a glass of wine if you want one - and you know you want one...
It's super-simple to make a delicious glass of sangria. Most likely, the only thing that you'll need to pick up that you may not have on hand is the sparkling water. Be careful here, be sure to get the stuff that's with the bottled waters and not the stuff that's by the pop, soda or whatever you want to call it. Anyway, before you buy anything, make sure that it has zero calories and no added sugar or sweeteners. It should just be carbonated water with fruit essence (or plain sparkling water, whichever you like. My favorite is the berry-flavored La Croix, but Nestle also has a line called Pure Life Exotics (I tried the Strawberry Dragonfruit) that's really good.
I paired my Berry La Croix with a super-sweet Moscato (I used the Naked Grape brand) and they go together perfectly. Moscato on it's own is WAY too sweet for me now that I've been on the Fix for a while and this is a great way to balance everything. Throw some blue and red berries into your white wine mixture and their you have it. I know, it almost isn't a recipe, but it's so stinkin' good and super-refreshing. If you've got time to let those berries soak, even better!
If you've been invited to a fourth of July soiree, don't go empty handed! Here are some more great ideas:
