Hi! I’m Stephanie. Recipe developer, author, head eater and picture taker here at The Foodie and The Fix. I thought I’d give you the low-down on me in case you were interested…
I’m originally from the Youngstown, Ohio area (Struthers, to be exact) but I’m a long way from home at the moment! My family and I recently moved to Alaska for the Coast Guard and it was the single most terrifying and incredible thing I’ve ever done (aside from having our two girls, because that definitely falls under this category!).
I’ve always considered myself a foodie. Trying new recipes, new restaurants (going to the same restaurant over and over so I can try every single thing on the menu that interests me) and then going on Yelp to make my opinion known. Heaven help me I love me some Yelp.
I get so excited when I see something on a menu that I’ve never heard of. An ingredient, a technique, a crazy-sounding flavor combo – at this I always tell my husband “It must be good or they wouldn’t put it on the menu.” I’ve found this to be true about 99 out of 100 times. So I dare you, take a chance on a weird menu item today – you’ll (probably) be glad you did! If not, write me an angry letter. I can take it 😉
Anyway, since the hubs is in the Coast Guard, we move around quite a bit. The big, shining bright spot about moving periodically is that we get to taste regional flavors and ingredients and experience places in ways that many people don’t get to. You ever go on vacation to someplace you love and think, “I wish I could stay here longer and really check everything out.” We get to do that! It’s not always easy, but it can be pretty fantastic and we definitely consider ourselves lucky for it.
Here’s a little info about this blog. I’ve centered The Foodie and The Fix around the 21 Day Fix container system (though you certainly don’t need it to enjoy these recipes!) I use it, I believe in it. It’s certainly reshaped my body, but more importantly, it’s reshaped the way I look at food – what healthy portions look like, what the right fuel for your body looks like. I truly believe that using a program like the 21 Day Fix, one that completely lays it all out for you, can be the lifestyle change you’re looking for and I want to help you make it and keep it. Not just for 21 days, but actually FOR LIFE.
If you are on the 21 Day Fix, I’m sure by now you’ve seen the many tips out there for simplifying your meal plan. Often, you’re looking at seasoned roasted chicken or fish, steamed broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes, etc… and that’s all fine and dandy. But what if you don’t want to eat… simply? What if you could care less about a boring piece of chicken? If so, this blog is for you, my fellow foodie. I’m making easy, family-friendly and flavorful recipes that you can get excited about AND that you can eat while sticking to the plan and getting to your goals. Here I’ll be sharing “fixified” versions of all of my family’s favorite meals and some new ones I’ve made along the way. I hope you’re hungry!
